Wood Pigeon Lodge

Find a warm welcome near the heart of the Tongariro National Park. We offer you the opportunity to awake to the sound of bellbirds and tuis from our private bush and neighbouring conservation reserve. The property is quiet, secluded, with volcano, rural and Raurimu Spiral views. Just 20 minutes to Whakapapa ski field and the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, we are a unique base for all summer and winter activities in the Tongariro World Heritage and Whanganui River areas.

Wood Pigeon Lodge offers three options of accommodation:
The Barn which sleeps 11, is woody, warm and welcoming. It is a converted hay shed on four levels. Ideal for two or even three family groups to come together and share in the rural environment. It has two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.

The Hut: Styled like a back country shepherds' hut, it sleeps two to four, has stunning views of all three volcanoes, has one main room with large entry porch and an attached bathroom all heated by a wood-stove. This has proved to be very popular as a romantic getaway. Honeymooners are regular guests.

The Tree House: Its sunning aspect gives you spectacular views of New Zealand’s native forest, our three beautiful volcanoes and the Tepure trout stream far below. It sleeps five and has a wood range to heat you to boiling point.

We are just 8 minutes from National Park village where there is ski hire, bars and cafes but Wood Pigeon Lodge gives you the peace of rural N.Z.

Rates for our lodges range from $200 to $250 per night for a couple.
