Blue Duck Station
Set on the banks of the Whanganui and Retaruke rivers and surrounded by Whanganui National Park, Blue Duck Station is an outdoor enthusiasts playground. Offering a range of activities including horse trekking and guided hunting as well as a beautiful waterfall walk and remote café there are plenty of reasons to spend the day in the bush.
Blue Duck Station and café is open year round. We offer half day horse treks around a 3 to 4 hour loop ride. Learn where your food comes from and help conserve the native flora and fauna from introduced pests with a guided small mammal or goat hunt. Take in views of the Whanganui river and Kaiwhakauka stream whilst walking out to the waterfall (3 hour return) and part of the Mountains to Sea cycle trail. Alternative walking tracks also available including Pariatua - a loop trek leading you high up through native bush and stunning views of the Whanganui river, and Mt Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro.
