The countdown is on to the Ruapehu Trail Festival - the biggest trail running and walking event held in the Tongariro National Park, incorporating the Ring of Fire and Tussock Traverse.

The Ruapehu Trail Festival will take place on 11 and 12 March and incorporates two epic events - the Ring of Fire and Tussock Traverse.
The Ring of Fire event offers an epic 73km solo ultra-marathon circumnavigating Mount Ruapehu on the Round the Mountain track, as well as a relay event on the same track.
There is also a 50km ultra from the Tūroa ski area to Whakapapa Village will headline the weekend! The Ring of Fire Relay will also be running over the weekend! Tickets for this event are on sale now until the end of February so get in quick!
The Tussock Traverse includes a 6 or 12km run or walk, a 21km run or walk , and a 32km run or walk on Saturday, 11 March.
The event takes in a vast variety of landscapes from desert features to wind-sculptured sands to volcanic rock, as well as the popular Taranaki Falls.
Standard entry pricing for the Ruapehu Trail Festival is available until 20 February 2023.
